Beth Bolgla is a an artist living and working in New York. Her work covers ceramics, sculpture and painting. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Georgia State University in 1978, she went on to exhibit, sell work and conduct workshops throughout the United States and abroad. Beth has received multiple grants– two Artists Project Grants from the Bureau of Cultural Affairs of the City of Atlanta and three from the Georgia Council for the Arts. After moving to New York in 1989, she’s continued to gain national and international recognition. She designed and produced a line of terra-cotta kitchenware for Dean and Deluca’s in New York and in 1991 designed over 75 puppets and masks for “Frida”, a theater production of the life of Frido Kahlo, which was produced by the American Music Theater Festival in Philadelphia, the Next Wave Festival at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Houston Opera Company. Beth has had seven solo exhibits and participated in over twenty group shows in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Augusta, Birmingham, Rochester and Aleppo, Syria.
Beth was invited by the U.S. State Department in Syria to take part in the “Second International Women’s Art”, in Aleppo, Syria. She’s conducted workshops for women artists in Damascus and Aleppo, and for students at the University of Damascus. After her time in Syria, she continued on to Saudi Arabia, to conduct more workshops for women artists.
Beth’s work has been collected by individuals and institutions alike, from California, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Aruba, New Zealand, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Syria.
